A Wealth of Experience

 

Roy is a multi-talented executive consultant with extensive, top-level, leadership and management experience of the Drug Discovery (Fisons Pharmaceuticals) and Drug Development (Astra & AstraZeneca) process.  He has experience, as a Director, of business development related to private and public funded companies.

He has consulted with pharmaceutical and biotech clients such as Nycomed, Biovitrum, Synovis, Biotical and Molecular Nature Ltd. 

 

Illustrative Assignments and Activities

 

  • Reviewing R&D organisation and operations in a medium sized Pharma, identifying major issues and recommending a plan for restructuring
  • Reviewing Pharmacology and Project Management organisation and processes in a medium sized Pharma and recommending and influencing subsequent change
  • Conducting Portfolio and Project Reviews with a number of Pharma companies, reviewing the science, assessing achievability and commercial potential and recommending priorities
  • Coaching Project leaders in Pharma companies, identifying weaknesses in leadership style and supporting clients to make improvements
  • Reviewing scientic data in a Biotech company, identifying quality issues and omissions and recommending viable options and solutions
  • Developing a therapeutic strategy with a Biotech company that involved use of key opinion leaders and the creation of a disease stragey that was appropriate to the resources, expertise and capability of the client

 

Qualifications

 

Roy graduated from London University in joint honours of Physiology and Chemistry and holds a PhD in Physiology.  He also holds various non-executive Directorships.

 

Individual approach

 

As a line and project manager Roy’s delivery focus led to the building of a variety of effective functional teams and to the successful nomination of several candidate drugs.  As a leader of a number of global change management projects he was instrumental in implementing important process enhancements.  As Committee Chairman in the public sector he oversaw the establishment of a not-for-profit company .  Roy’s commitment to individual leadership and his loyalty as a leadership team member results in his delivering and helping others to deliver significant and sustainable improvement in organisations.  This experience and strength is what makes him the effective client-centred consultant that he is.
